We're Glad You Found Us
Here's what we know: you've probably been searching for a therapist at an hour when you should be asleep. You're tired. Maybe you've done therapy before and it helped a little but something still feels off. Or maybe this is the first time you've let yourself admit that you could use some support.
Either way - you're here. And that already says something.
Foothold Counseling is a telehealth therapy practice built around one belief: you don't need to be fixed. You need space to understand what's going on in your mind, your body, and your patterns - so that real, lasting change can actually happen.
What Makes Us Different
We're not a cookie-cutter practice. Our clinicians draw from approaches that go deeper than surface-level coping - somatic experiencing, brainspotting, neurofeedback, functional medicine-informed care, and evidence-based therapy - because we know that what's happening in your body is just as important as what's happening in your head.
We pay attention to you. Not just your diagnosis. Not just your symptoms. You.
We ask different questions. We notice what your nervous system is doing. We slow down when conventional therapy tends to rush. And we tell you the truth - even when it's uncomfortable - because that's what actually moves the needle.
Fees and Insurance
Why We're a Private-Pay Practice
We don't bill insurance directly - and we want you to understand why before you decide if we're the right fit.
When you pay out of pocket for therapy, a few important things happen:
Your records stay private. Insurance companies require a diagnosis, and that information goes into a national database. It can affect your ability to get life insurance or other coverage down the road. When you pay privately, none of that happens.
You stay in control. No insurance company gets to tell you how many sessions you need or whether your treatment is medically necessary. You and your therapist decide what works.
There are no surprises. You know exactly what you're paying. No claim denials, no deductibles, no unexpected bills after the fact.

Out-of-Network Reimbursement
Even though we don't bill insurance directly, your plan may reimburse you for a portion of your session cost as an out-of-network provider. We can provide a superbill - an itemized receipt with everything your insurance company needs - for you to submit on your own.
To find out what your plan covers, contact your insurance company and ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits before scheduling.
You can also use Reimbursify to simplify the submission process: https://reimbursify.com/
Cancellation Policy
We hold your appointment time specifically for you - which means we're also holding it away from other clients who may need care that week.
If you need to cancel, we ask for at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice, or no-shows, will be charged the full session fee. Because insurance does not cover late cancellations or no-shows, this fee is the client's responsibility.
We know life happens. If something urgent comes up, please reach out as soon as possible.
Licensing
All clinicians at Foothold Counseling are licensed in the states where they provide services. Licensing details are listed on each clinician's individual bio page.
HIPAA
As a mental health practice, we are required to comply with HIPAA - the federal law that protects the privacy and security of your health information. You have the right to know how your information is used and shared, and we take that seriously. Learn more about your HIPAA rights.
No Surprises Act
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your care before your first session. If you have questions about this, just reach out before we get started. Learn more about the No Surprises Act

Owner and Clinical Director, Foothold Counseling
A Note From Our Founder
I started Foothold Counseling because I believe therapy should actually work - and that working looks different for every person. Early in my career, I kept noticing that talk therapy alone wasn't enough for a lot of my clients. The insight was there, but the shift wasn't happening in their bodies. Their nervous systems were still stuck.
That sent me down a long path of training in somatic experiencing, brainspotting, neurofeedback, and functional medicine-informed care. Not because I love collecting credentials (I mean, maybe a little) - but because I wanted to actually help people move through the things that had them stuck.
I built this practice around that philosophy. And I've brought together a team of clinicians who share it. We're all a little different in our styles and specialties, but we have one thing in common: we genuinely care about getting it right for you.
